This post is about a professor who calls himself Lord Of Statistics. He likes to show Haka to people and hates the Aussies.
Interestingly, I had the opportunity to study Statistics from him and I must say that it was good fun. You could clearly see that the guy has the knowledge of what he teaching. I also had the opportunity to ask some stupid questions but he was patient enough to listen and answer to them.
There is one thing which I wanted to add on this post. I read the autobiography of Richard Feynman called "Surely You're joking, Mr. Feynman". This autobiography is very anecdotal and one definite takeaway is that mathematicians are normal people with a little extra levels of curiosity. Sometimes you might find them unconventional, aloof of the world around them or even weird, but bigger problems anyway were never solved by following the conventional path.
I tried to think about our Lord of Statistics from this perspective and there are some things which definitely make him unconventional. Most of the times, he forgets to shave his sideburns properly and invariably you would find the back end of his trousers tucked in his socks. But what matters is this...when it comes to Statistics, he can make this subject so interesting that you would not complain once about waking up early mornings and attending the classes. You would have read course material covered in a complete book and still not realize the volume. Believe me, he is the best (though he might not know that!!).
Long Live the Lord Of Statistics!!!
